Milwaukee College Prep is a nonprofit organization that runs outstanding urban charter public schools that close the achievement gap and prepare low-income students to graduate from college. 36th Street Campus ~ 2449 N. 36th Street ~ Milwaukee, WI 53210 ~ Est: 1997
38th Street Campus ~ 2623 N. 38th Street ~ Milwaukee, WI 53210 ~ Est: 2011
Lloyd Street Campus ~ 1228 W. Lloyd St ~ Milwaukee, WI 53205 ~ Est: 2010
36th and Lloyd Street are K-8 campuses and 38th Street will start as a K-4th grade and will add a grade each year until it is a K-8 school as well.

ROLE
Teachers hold primary responsibility for the implementation and development of Milwaukee College Prep’s curriculum and the success of its students.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
• Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards;
• Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards;
• Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices;
• Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions;
• Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior;
• Be accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards;
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues;
• Participate in an annual three-week staff orientation and training;
Valid State Certification is required. Equally important, belief in and alignment with Milwaukee College Prep’s core beliefs and educational philosophy is critical.

Job parameters:
1. 12 month contract
2. Vacation – between 6/15 and 8/1 plus staff vacation days during school year (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc). 10 paid personal days per year.
3. hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:10 p.m. on school days plus special events (conferences/parent meetings/performance nights; etc.)
4. Full life, health and dental benefits
5. Eligible to participate in retirement plan, with school matching up to 5% of salary.

A. Classroom Responsibilities:
1. Discuss daily responsibilities with lead teacher. Range of responsibilities may include:
a. small group instruction for reading and math
b. daily SRA instruction with students one-on-one or small group
c. track and maintain up to date records of students participating in SRA
d. assist teacher during whole group instruction by moving throughout the classroom to check for understanding from the students
e. assist teacher in maintaining on-task behavior in the classroom
f. provide assistance in preparation for lessons (making copies, gathering materials, passing out supplies, ect. )
g. daily check of Life’s Work folders and communication with lead teacher regarding any Life’s Work deposits.
h. Monitor students during lunch
i. Accompany students to AMPS classes and assist the lead AMPS teacher with the daily lesson
B. General guidelines
1. Be proactive and positive in moving through classroom to complement, refocus and assist students.
2. Teacher has responsible for establishing and maintaining academic and social expectations in classroom. EA’s role is to assist in maintaining those expectations.
3. Teacher is responsible for parental contact in terms of academic progress and behavior.
4. Be consistent in using “proactivity” language in working with students.
60 hours college credit is required. Equally important, belief in and alignment with Milwaukee College Prep’s core beliefs and educational philosophy is critical.
